Before I start my career as a social worker, I wanted to do something for myself by giving back, so I've signed up to volunteer in Romania for 4 weeks at Tutova Clinic caring for infants and children who were abandoned or given up.
Babies who are born severely underweight are taken to the clinic so that they can be nurtured back to health. While they generally stay at the clinic for about a year, in about 25% of the cases, the parents never return for their children. Volunteers are relied upon to give these children the individual attention that the staff of the clinic is unable to give; this involves feeding, teaching, diapering, and giving the children the stimulation, affection, and nurturing that they need to thrive.
I'm reaching out to you to help me achieve my dream, to make a difference in the lives of these children who have no say in the situation they find themselves in. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time, and with your help I will be able to do it. Any donation, big or small, will help offset the cost of my trip, and I would greatly appreciate your support. I have set up my own website (http://beckyreichel.blogspot.com/) so that throughout this adventure you log on to read journals and see pictures I’ve posted about my days as well as drop me a note to say hi.
Thanks for taking the time to visit this page, and if you choose to donate, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and if not, no worries, I still love you. I am so excited to be able to do this and can't wait to share this experience with everyone!!
